Delete instances

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:31

You can delete obsolete instances either regularly or at any time based on your business needs. Note that those instances that use the Subscription billing mode do not support the operations described in this topic.

When a KEC instance is permanently deleted, its related data is dealt with as follows:

  • All data on the system disk and local data disk is deleted at the same time and cannot be restored.
  • If you select Delete with Instance for a mounted EBS volume, data on the EBS volume is deleted at the same time.
  • If you do not select Delete with Instance for a mounted EBS volume, the EBS volume is unmounted from the KEC instance and data on the EBS volume remains intact.

Delete Now

Instances that use the billing mode of Pay-By-Daily-Config or Pay-As-You-Go support the Delete Now feature.

When you delete an instance, you can specify whether to recycle the instance. Pay-As-You-Go instances support recycling. For more information about the recycle bin, see Recycle bin for KEC instances.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. In the list of KEC instances, perform the following operations as needed:

    • Delete a single instance: Find the instance that you want to delete and choose More > Instance Status > Delete Now in the Operation column.

    • Delete multiple instances at a time: Select multiple instances that you want to delete and choose More > Delete Now above the list.
  3. In the Delete Server dialog box, specify whether to recycle the one or more instances. If you select No, the instances are permanently deleted without being recycled. If you select Yes, the instances are recycled. image.png

  4. Specify whether to retain the EIPs and click Delete.

Scheduled Deletion

You can preset a time to delete an instance. When the set time arrives, the instance is automatically deleted.

Precautions:

  • Only Pay-As-you-Go and Pay-By-Daily-Config instances support the Scheduled Deletion feature.
  • If an EIP is attached to a KEC instance, the EIP is automatically detached but remains in the EIP list when the instance is automatically deleted. The EIP will continue to incur fees. If you do not need the EIP, delete it as soon as possible.
  • Before the set time to delete an instance, you can change the time or disable Scheduled Deletion at any time.

Enable Scheduled Deletion for a new instance

  1. Log in to the KEC console. On the Instance page, click Create Instance.

  2. Set parameters in the Basic Configuration and Network Configuration steps and click Next. In the System Configuration step, turn on Scheduled Deletion, and then set the Deletion Time parameter. Set a time point that is at least 60 minutes later than the current time.
  3. When you enable the Scheduled Deletion feature, specify whether to delete all EIPs attached to the instances when the instances are automatically deleted at the scheduled time.
If you select the check box, the attached EIPs are deleted together with the instances when the instances are automatically deleted at the scheduled time. However, if the EIPs use the Subscription billing mode, they are detached from the instances but not deleted.

For more information about how to create an instance, see Create an instance.

Enable Scheduled Deletion for an existing instance

  1. Log in to the KEC console. For detailed steps on creating a new instance, see Create an instance.
  2. In the list of KEC instances, perform the following operations as needed:

    • Enable Scheduled Deletion for a single instance: Find the instance that you want to delete and choose More > Instance Status > Scheduled Deletion in the Operation column.
    • Enable Scheduled Deletion for multiple instances at a time: Select multiple instances that you want to delete and choose More > Scheduled Deletion above the list.
  3. In the Scheduled Deletion dialog box, turn on Scheduled Deletion, set the Deletion Time parameter, and then click OK.

Set a time point that is at least 30 minutes later than the current time.
