Stop an instance

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:31

You can stop an instance if you want to stop its services or to perform any operation that requires shutdown, such as modifying your password.

The console provides the Stop and Forced Shutdown features.

  • The Stop feature is equivalent to shutting down your local computer in normal cases.
  • Forced Shutdown has the same effect as powering off your local computer, and is used only when your KEC instance cannot shut down.

Precautions

  • Only an instance in Running state can be stopped.

  • Forced shutdown may cause loss of data or corruption of the file system on your KEC instance. Use the feature with caution.

  • Contact customer service if forced shutdown fails.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. On the Instance page, select one or more KEC instances that you want to stop from the instance list and then click Stop above the instance list.

  3. In the dialog box that appears, set the shutdown mode to Stop or Forced Shutdown.

    During your operation, note that:

    • If you select Forced Shutdown, you must select Confirm Forced Shutdown.

    • If one or more selected instances support the No Fees Upon Shutdown mode, you can select No Fees Upon Shutdown for the instances. For more information about No Fees Upon Shutdown, see No fees for stopped Pay-As-You-Go instances.
  4. Click OK.
