Create an instance

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:31

This topic describes the three methods that you can use to create a KEC instance. KEC allows you to create an instance by using the wizard or a custom template.

  • Use the wizard to create an instance: You can flexibly set parameters based on your business needs.
  • Use a launch template to create an instance: You can configure a launch template based on your habits and use the launch template to create an instance. This saves your time of repeating parameter settings.
  • Perform the Use Same Configuration operation to create an instance: You can use this method to create an instance that has the same configurations as those of an existing instance.

Create an instance by using the wizard

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. On the Instance page, click Create Instance.

  3. In the Basic Configuration step, set parameters and click Next.

During the configuration, pay attention to the following parameters:

    • Billing Mode: Select Subscription, Pay-By-Daily-Config, Pay-As-You-Go, or Spot Instance as needed.

    • Data Center and Availability Zone: Only VPC data centers are supported. For more information, see Regions and availability zones.

    • CPU, Architecture, and Type: Kingsoft Cloud provides different types of KEC instances that are based on different underlying hardware. A higher series provides better performance. For more information about KEC instance types, see Instance types.

    • Image Type: Standard images, custom images, shared images, and images available from the marketplace are supported.

    • System Disk: Specify the type and size of the system disk based on your business needs. For more information about the pricing of SSD EBS volumes, see Pricing.

    • Data Disk: If you need to add a data disk of the EBS type, click Add, select the EBS type, and specify the disk size.

You can configure up to eight EBS volumes for each KEC instance. Each of the EBS volumes comes with an option of Delete with Instance, which allows you to remove the specified EBS volume along with the instance as needed.

  4. In the Network Configuration step, set the Bind EIP parameter to Buy New EIP or Purchase EIP Later in the EIP Console.

Note: You must buy the same number of elastic IP addresses as that of your KEC instances.

  5. Set relevant parameters including the VPC and click Next.

  6. In the System Configuration step, fill in the system information and click Buy Now.

  7. Click Submit Order and pay.

If your account balance is insufficient, choose Billing > Recharge in the upper-right corner of the page, enter an amount, and then click Confirm.
