Change the type of an instance

KEC allows you to change the instance type of a KEC instance. You can upgrade your KEC instance to a higher series to power your business growth even better.

The following table describes the instance types that you can change.

* Note: You can change the KEC instance type only in the original region and availability zone. Therefore, the destination instance types optional for the change vary with the region and availability zone. To change the instance type of a KEC instance equipped with local disks, contact customer service or submit a ticket.

Precautions

  • You cannot change the instance type of dedicated KEC instances.
  • You can change the instance type of only one KEC instance or KEC instances of a single type at a time. You cannot cancel the change when the change is in process.

Prerequisites

  • Stop the KEC instance for which You want to change the instance type, and keep the KEC instance stopped during the change.
  • The KEC instance for which you want to change the instance type is stopped, and the KEC instance remains stopped during the change.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. In the list of KEC instances, find the instance whose type you want to change and choose More > Instance Settings > Change Instance Type in the Operation column.

  3. In the Change Instance Type dialog box, select a new KEC instance type and change the CPU and memory configurations.

  4. Click OK.

  5. In the Confirm Instance Type Change dialog box, click OK to submit the order and pay.

Next steps

  • Applying the instance type change takes a time. During this time, you can change the instance type of other KEC instances. These KEC instances will enter the waiting queue. The system supports up to 30 KEC instances being involved in operations related to type change at the same time.
  • After the instance type change is complete, you must start the KEC instance for the change to take effect.
