Instance types

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:32

Before understanding the types of KEC instances, you need to get acquainted with the following terms:

  • Series: A series refers to a collection of KEC instances that are backed by hardware of the same generation. The performance of KEC instances in series 1 to 4 is increased in ascending order. For example, General Purpose N3 outperforms General Purpose N1.
  • Package: It refers to the specifications of a KEC instance. For example, a KEC instance of N3.2B package is configured with two vCPUs and 4 GB memory.
  • Packets per second (PPS): It measures the capacity of sending and receiving packets. PPS indicates the number of packets that can be processed per second. Its value is the sum of packets sent and received.
  • Internal network throughput: The maximum amount of data that an internal network can transmit per second.

The following table describes the types of KEC instances provided by Kingsoft Cloud.

It is suitable for scenarios that require high computing performance and highly concurrent read and write operations, such as the frontend of MMOGPG and MOBA games and high-workload web applications.
Basic Basic E1 It is a highly cost-effective instance type suitable for scenarios such as web application servers and lightweight enterprise services.
Big Data Big Data D4 It is suitable for I/O-intensive workloads, such as Hadoop distributed computing, massive log processing, distributed file systems, and large-scale data warehouses.
Performance Guaranteed Performance Guaranteed X6
Performance Guaranteed X5
It is an enterprise-grade instance type that provides superb and stable computing performance. It is suitable for scenarios such as CPU-intensive business and enterprise applications of various types and scales.

Note: If a single instance requires more than two ENIs, submit a ticket or contact Customer Service. The canary release of Performance Guaranteed X5 is implemented. To use Performance Guaranteed X5, submit a ticket or contact Customer Service.

I/O Optimized KEC

  1. I/O Optimized I4

    • Characteristics:

      • Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6240 CPU, the latest 6-Channel DDR4 memory
      • Supported data disks: local SSD, EBS3.0, and EHDD
      • Supported system disks: EBS3.0 and EHDD
      • System disk capacity: 20-500 GB for Linux operating systems, 50-500 GB for Windows operating systems
      • Local disks: NVMe SSD
        • Single disk performance: Random read speed of up to 620,000 IOPS (4 KB block size) and sequential read throughput capacity of up to 3.2 GB/s (128 KB block size)
        • Single instance performance: Random read speed of up to 2 million IOPS (4 KB block size) and sequential read throughput capacity of up to 12 GB/s (128 KB block size)

Note: This instance type uses local directly-connected disks. Data stored on these disks may be lost in the event of a hardware failure on the physical machine where the instance is located. It is recommended that you do not store data that needs to be saved for a long time on the local directly-connected disks. You can implement data redundancy at the application layer to ensure data reliability. You can also use disaster tolerance groups to ensure that instances are distributed across different physical machines, ensuring underlying disaster tolerance. If you need high-reliability data storage, it is recommended that you choose a different instance type.

    • Scenarios:

It is suitable for scenarios of I/O-intensive applications such as e-commerce, gaming, and media to meet users' requirements for high random I/O performance and low latency of block storage.
