No fees for stopped Pay-As-You-Go instances

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:31

The No Fees Upon Shutdown feature is supported for General Purpose KEC (General Purpose N1, N2, and N3) instances, Compute Optimized C4 instances, and Standard S4 instances that use the Pay-As-You-Go billing mode. When the preceding KEC instances are stopped, the system does not charge CPU and memory usage of the instances. Charges of other billing items including the system disks, data disks, and EIPs are not affected.

Usage notes

If No Fees Upon Shutdown is enabled for a KEC instance, CPU and memory resources of the KEC instance will be released after the instance is stopped. You can still perform operations such as system reinstallation, configuration adjustment, and password reset on the KEC instance. However, if you restart the KEC instance, the startup may fail due to insufficient resources.

Therefore, if you need to temporarily restart a KEC instance to reinstall the system or change the configuration, we recommend that you select the Retain and Charge mode.

Limits

The No Fees Upon Shutdown feature is subject to the following limits:

  • This feature is not applicable to KEC instances that are stopped due to overdue payments.
  • This feature is not supported if you stop a KEC instance in the operating system of the KEC instance.

For more information about how to use this feature, see Enable No Fees Upon Shutdown.
