Create snapshots

Last updated:2021-08-04 11:26:30

KEC supports snapshots, which allow you to save EBS data at a specific moment. By doing so, you can back up your data before important operations or conduct conventional data backup and restoration.

Both the local disks and EBS volumes of KEC instances support snapshots.

Precautions

You can create snapshots only for KEC instances that are in Running or Stopped state.

Create snapshots for local disks

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Disk > Local Disk.

  3. Find the disk for which you want to create a snapshot and click Create Snapshot in the Operation column.

  4. Enter the name and description of the snapshot, and then click OK.

After the snapshot of the local disk is created, you can choose Snapshot > Snapshot List in the left navigation pane and view the created snapshot on the Local Disk tab.

Create snapshots for EBS volumes

  1. Log in to the KEC console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Disk > EBS.

  3. In the list of EBS volumes, find the EBS volume for which you want to create a snapshot and click Create Snapshot in the Operation column.

  4. In the Create Snapshot dialog box, set Snapshot Type to Common Snapshot or Local Snapshot. For more information, see Snapshot overview.

  5. Enter the name and description of the snapshot, and then click OK.

After the snapshot of the EBS volume is created, you can choose Snapshot > Snapshot List in the left navigation pane and view the created snapshot on the EBS tab.
