What is KS3?

Last updated:2021-10-11 11:53:21

Kingsoft Cloud Standard Storage Service (KS3) is a storage space solution developed by Kingsoft Cloud. It features no limitation, multiple backups, distributed deployment, and cost-efficiency. KS3 provides SDKs for multiple languages to help you expand storage capacity, ensure data reliability and security, and implement distributed access. You can use KS3 SDKs to develop programs and services related to the storage business.

In KS3, you can safely store a variety of data in a cost-efficient manner, including:

  • Static resources of websites, such as picture, music, video, and text files
  • Historical data of companies, such as data backups and logs
  • Disaster backups of various large objects
  • Cross-region disaster backups of critical data

Benefits:

  • Provides petabyte-level storage and supports unlimited expansion of bucket capacity.
  • Supports billing by usage, reducing prepaid costs without capacity planning.
  • Ensures service stability and provides 99.999999999% data reliability.
  • Enables you to access data by using RESTful API operations, facilitating application development and cross-platform migration.
  • Connects to big data and AI platforms of Kingsoft Cloud, such as Kingsoft Cloud MapReduce (KMR) and Kingsoft Cloud Deep Learning (KDL), quickly mining data and exploiting the value of data.

KS3 places no limit on the total storage capacity or the capacity of a single bucket. The maximum size of a single object in KS3 is 48.8 TB.

You can use KS3 in the following ways:

  • Tools KS3 provides various tools to facilitate operations, such as batch download and upload.
  • SDKs KS3 provides SDKs for multiple languages. You can use these SDKs to build upload and download features for your applications.
  • API KS3 provides a set of RESTful API operations to meet flexible development requirements. For more information, see API overview. The AWS S3 protocol is supported by a variety of open-source tools, and KS3 is compatible with common AWS S3 API operations. Therefore, applications and services developed based on the AWS S3 protocol can be easily migrated to KS3. For more information about the API compatibility with AWS S3, see Compatibility with the AWS S3 protocol.
  • KS3 console You can access the KS3 console in a browser to perform operations as required. For example, you can manage your account, view bills, and configure permissions. For more information about how to use the KS3 console, see the KS3 console manual.

KS3 supports both HTTP and HTTPS. We recommend that you use HTTPS to protect your information. If you use the default endpoint to access KS3, you do not need to install the certificate on the client. In this case, if you need to access a KS3 object, enter the object URL in a browser by replacing http:// with https://. You can also use a custom endpoint to access KS3. For more information, see How can I use a custom domain name to support HTTPS.
