Manage buckets

Last updated:2021-07-20 10:07:43

Before you upload objects to Kingsoft Cloud Standard Storage Service (KS3), you must create a bucket to store the objects. You can configure various attributes for a bucket, including the region, access permissions, and other metadata.

In the KS3 console, you can view and manage buckets, and delete buckets if you no longer need them.

Create a bucket

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KS3 console.
  2. Click Bucket in the left navigation pane.
  3. On the Bucket list page, click Create Bucket.

Note: The bucket name must conform to the naming rules and be unique in KS3. After a bucket is created, the bucket name cannot be changed.

The bucket name must conform to the following naming rules:

  • The name can contain only lowercase letters, digits, periods (.), and hyphens (-).
  • The name must start with a lowercase letter or digit.
  • The name can contain 3 to 63 characters in length.
  • The name cannot be in the IP address format, such as 192.168.0.1.
  • The name cannot start with kss.
  1. In the Create Bucket panel, select a region, enter a bucket name, select a project to which the current bucket belongs, a storage type, and an access permission, and then click OK.

Note: A non-Archive bucket stores Standard and Infrequent Access (IA) objects. You can access such objects without the need to restore them. An Archive bucket stores objects that are stored for a long time and rarely accessed. To access such objects, you must restore them first.

View information about a bucket

  1. After a bucket is created, you can view its usage on the Bucket Details tab of the bucket.
  2. For more information about the metrics on the Bucket Details tab, see Report center.

Delete a bucket

If you no longer need a bucket, delete it to avoid unnecessary fees. Before you delete a bucket, make sure that all objects in the bucket are deleted. Otherwise, the bucket cannot be deleted.

To delete a bucket, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the KS3 console.
  2. Click Bucket in the left navigation pane.
  3. On the Bucket list page, find the bucket to delete and click Delete in the Action column.
  4. In the message that appears, click OK. Note: Before you delete a bucket, delete all objects and configuration information, such as custom domain names and bucket policies, in the bucket.
