Set the name of an object

Last updated:2021-10-18 16:00:50

This feature is applicable only when you send a Put Object request by using an API operation or an SDK to upload an object. When this feature is enabled, you can customize naming rules to rename objects that are uploaded to Kingsoft Cloud Standard Storage Service (KS3). After an object is uploaded, it is renamed based on the naming rule that you customize. This feature is inapplicable when you upload an object in multiple parts.

  1. Log in to the KS3 console and click Bucket in the left navigation pane. On the page that appears, click the name of the target bucket.

  2. On the page that appears, click the Bucket Settings tab. On the Bucket Settings tab, click Set File Name. You can enable or disable this feature to specify whether to customize object names.

  1. Click Edit for File Name and select Open for Set file name status. Set the fields as required and click Save.

Naming rules

An object name contains one to five fields. If multiple fields are selected, you must sort the fields.

Field rules: The value of the first field must be 1 to 20 characters in length, and can contain digits (0 to 9), lowercase letters (a to z), and uppercase letters (A to Z). The value of the second field is automatically generated by the system based on the current time, in the format of YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS or YYYYMMDDHHMMSS. The value of the third field consists of three random digits. The value of the fourth field consists of the MD5 check bits automatically generated by the system. The value of the fifth field is the SHA1 value automatically generated by the system. Multiple fields must be connected by using hyphens(-), underscores (_), plus signs (+), asterisks (*), or forward slashes (\/).

When you set the object name, we recommend that you do not use the following three settings. Otherwise, objects with the same names will be overwritten when multiple objects are concurrently uploaded.

  • Select Field 1 (fixed string) only.
  • Select Field 2 (time) only.
  • Select Field 1 (fixed string) and Field 2 (time) only.
