Manage Helm applications

Last updated:2021-05-11 10:41:36

KCE integrates the features of Helm. You can manage Helm applications in the KCE console in a visualized manner.

  • A cluster is created. The Kubernetes version of the cluster is later than 1.8.
  • The cluster resources are sufficient. The Helm service occupies 0.25 CPU core and 160 MiB memory in the cluster.

Enable the Helm service

Log in to the KCE console, click Helm Application in the left navigation pane, and then select the target cluster from the Cluster drop-down list. If the Helm service is not enabled, click Apply for install.

Relevant components such as Tiller are installed in the cluster when you enable Helm. After Helm is enabled, you can use relevant features of Helm. For example, you can create Helm applications in the KCE console.

Basic operations on Helm applications

Create a Helm application

  1. Log in to the KCE console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Helm Application. The Helm Application page appears.
  3. Click Create. On the page that appears, configure related information to create a Helm application.
  • Name: the name of the Helm application, which is unique in the cluster.
  • Chart Source: the type of the Helm Chart to be deployed. You can use a private chart, a chart provided by Kingsoft Cloud, or a third-party chart.
  • Custom Variable: You can customize variables and replace default variable values in the chart during deployment of the Helm application.
  1. Click Deploy. After the Helm application is created, you are directed to the Helm Application page.

View the details of a Helm application

Click the name of a Helm application. The Helm application details page appears. The following information is displayed:

  • Info: includes the name of the Helm application, cluster and namespace where the application resides, Helm description, creation time, and last deployment time.

  • Resource List: allows you to query the YAML files of corresponding resources.

  • Status: shows the status of resources in the Helm application.

  • Custom Parameter: shows the values of custom parameters for deploying the Helm application.

  • Version Management: allows you to manage the released versions of the Helm application. One-click rollback is supported.

Update a Helm application

On the Helm Application page, find the Helm application and click Update in the Operation column. The page for updating the Helm application appears.

Delete a Helm application

On the Helm Application page, find the Helm application and click Delete in the Operation column. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

Note: When you delete a Helm application, all resources in the application are deleted. Exercise caution when you perform this operation.
