Management modes of the master node

Last updated:2021-05-11 10:41:31

Kingsoft Cloud enables you to deploy Kubernetes clusters in one of the following modes:

  • Managed master
  • Dedicated master

Managed master mode

In this mode, master and etcd nodes in the cluster are managed and maintained by the KCE team. You only need to create worker nodes. This mode features ease of use, low cost, and high availability.

Notes:

  1. In the managed master mode, Kingsoft Cloud does not charge you for using the resources of the master and etcd nodes of the cluster, but you need to pay for worker nodes, persistent storage instances, and network resources in the cluster.
  2. In the managed master mode, you cannot modify the specifications and service parameters of the master and etcd nodes. If you need to modify the specifications and service parameters, we recommend that you use the dedicated master mode.

Dedicated master mode

In this mode, you deploy master and etcd nodes on your KEC and EPC instances, and have all permissions to manage the Kubernetes cluster.
