Use custom images

Last updated:2021-05-11 10:41:31

This topic describes how to use custom images to create Kubernetes clusters in the KCE console.

Precautions

  • Custom images must be created based on the standard images provided by KCE.
  • Custom images must use the same operating system as the standard images based on which the custom images are created. For example, you can create only custom images of CentOS based on standard images of CentOS.

Procedure

Obtain a standard image provided by KCE

To improve image stability and provide more features, KCE provides a series of standard images. You can call the DescribeInstanceImage API operation of KCE to obtain the standard images.

The following table describes the standard images provided in the CN North 1(Beijing) region.

Image ID Operating system name Operating system type GPU support
8c8456b6-2c79-4ac4-86b2-21fd2fbbc9de Ubuntu-18.04 64-bit Ubuntu No
4b293997-9940-42bd-a5f0-65ecb788f394 CentOS-7.6 64-bit CentOS No
6f124026-02ca-403a-8f4c-be8e60726268 Ubuntu-18.04 CUDA10.2 Ubuntu Yes
3c04b700-7e3d-4e06-95c1-d789ef223c4a CentOS-7.5 CUDA10.2 CentOS Yes

Note

  • Kingsoft Cloud continuously optimizes the standard images or fixes bugs to update the standard images. We recommend that you call the DescribeInstanceImage API operation to obtain the latest versions of the standard images.
  • The latest standard images do not affect the custom images that you created based on the standard images of earlier versions. We recommend that you use the latest standard images to ensure optimal performance.

Use the standard image provided by KCE to create a KEC instance

Call the RunInstances API operation of KEC to create a KEC instance by setting the ImageId parameter to the ID of the standard image provided by KCE. You can call the DescribeInstanceImage API operation of KCE to obtain the image ID.

Create a custom image

Create a custom image based on your business requirements. For more information about how to create a custom image, see Create images.

Use the custom image

After the custom image is created, contact your business representative to import it to KCE. After the custom image is imported, you can use it in the KCE console.

Usage notes

  • Custom images must be created based on the standard images provided by KCE.
  • Do not delete the /usr/libexec/appctl and /lib/systemd/system/appctl.service files from the images.
