EBS is a block storage service that can meet your business needs in complex scenarios. You can easily store files and build databases on EBS volumes. EBS provides scalable and highly reliable data storage and backup services for KEC instances.
You can attach an EBS volume as an independent block storage device to any KEC instance in the same AZ at any time. The attached EBS volume can be used as a data disk. You can detach the EBS volume from the KEC instance at any time after use, without having to stop the KEC instance.
In response to constant needs for larger storage as your business grows, EBS offers flexible capacity expansion at any time. The capacity of a single EBS volume can reach up to 32 TB. You can attach a maximum of eight EBS volumes to a single KEC instance to store a large amount of data in scenarios such as big data computing and data warehouse construction. The total capacity of eight EBS volumes can reach up to 256 TB.
A snapshot is a fully usable copy of data on an EBS volume. The copy is an image of the EBS volume at the time when the copy is created. You can use snapshots to prevent data loss due to misoperation, attacks, and tampering. EBS 3.0 uses the ROW technology to create snapshots of EBS volumes. Creating snapshots does not deteriorate performance of an EBS volume and therefore does not interrupt your business.
To ensure data reliability, EBS uses the three-replica architecture. Each replica is placed in a different rack.
You can use the EBS API to manage EBS volumes, such as creating, attaching, detaching, and deleting EBS volumes.
