Install and activate the GRID driver (Windows)

This topic describes how to manually install and activate the GRID driver on a Kingsoft Cloud GPU Elastic Compute (GEC) instance that runs a standard Windows image.

If the vGPU instance runs an operating system image with the GRID driver pre-installed, you only need to activate the GRID driver. You do not need to manually install the GRID driver.

Install the GRID driver

1. Download the GRID driver installation package for your operating system:

   • GRID driver installation package for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016
   • GRID driver installation package for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012R2, and Windows Server 2008R2
2. Double-click the installation package and follow the instructions to install the GRID driver.

Note: After the GRID driver is installed and activated, Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) may not support applications such as DirectX or OpenGL, or you may fail to log in by using Virtual Network Computing (VNC). To resolve these issues, you can install VNC services such as TightVNC, and then connect to the high definition screen that the vGPU renders.

Activate the GRID driver

Before you perform the following steps, make sure that a license server is built and licenses are configured. For more information, see Build a license server.

To activate the GRID driver, perform the following steps:

1. Right-click on the desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel.

2. Choose Licensing > Manage License. Enter the address and port number of the license server.

3. Check the authorized permissions after the GRID driver is activated.
