Delete an instance

Last updated:2021-06-15 11:17:30

Overview

You can delete Kingsoft Cloud GPU Elastic Compute (GEC) instances that you no longer need at any time.

Note: Instances that are billed in the Subscription mode do not support the operations described in this topic.

After you permanently delete a GEC instance, the data on the instance is handled in the following ways:

  • All data on the system disk and local data disks is deleted and cannot be restored.
  • If Delete with Instance is selected for an Elastic Block Storage (EBS) volume that is attached to the instance, the data on the volume is deleted.
  • If Delete with Instance is not selected for an EBS volume that is attached to the instance, the volume is detached from the instance, and the data on the volume is not affected.

Immediate deletion

Only instances that are billed in the Pay-By-Daily-Config or Pay-As-You-Go mode support immediate deletion.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KEC console.
  2. In the instance list, perform the following operations:

    • Delete a single instance: Find the instance that you want to delete from the instance list, and choose More > Instance Status > Delete Now in the Operation column.
    • Delete multiple instances at a time: Select the instances that you want to delete from the instance list, and choose More > Delete Now above the instance list.
  3. Select whether to keep the elastic IP address (EIP), and click Delete. Note: GEC instances cannot be recycled after they are deleted.

Scheduled deletion

You can set a deletion time for an instance, so that the instance will be deleted at the scheduled time.

Note:

  • Only instances that are billed in the Pay-As-You-Go or Pay-By-Daily-Config mode support scheduled deletion.
  • When a GEC instance is deleted, the EIP attached to the instance is detached from the instance and retained in your EIP list. The retained EIP will still be charged. If you no longer need the EIP, delete it in time to avoid additional charges.
  • You can change the scheduled time and turn off scheduled deletion as long as the scheduled time has not arrived.

Enable scheduled deletion for a newly created instance

  1. Log in to the KEC console.
  2. Click Create Instance.
  3. Configure the parameters in the Basic Configuration and Network Configuration steps. In the System Configuration step, turn on Scheduled Deletion, and set Deletion Time.

The deletion time must be at least 60 minutes later than the current time.

  4. Choose whether to delete all the EIPs attached to the GEC instance when the instance is deleted.

If you select this option, the instance and the EIPs attached to it will be deleted together when the deletion time arrives. However, EIPs that use the Subscription billing mode are only detached and will not be deleted.

Enable scheduled deletion for an existing instance

  1. Log in to the KEC console.
  2. In the instance list, perform one of the following operations:
    • Enable scheduled deletion for a single instance: Find the instance for which you want to enable scheduled deletion and choose More > Instance Status > Scheduled Deletion in the Operation column.
    • Enable scheduled deletion for multiple instances at a time: Select the instances for which you want to enable scheduled deletion and choose More > Scheduled Deletion above the instance list.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, turn on Scheduled Deletion and select a deletion time.

The deletion time must be at least 30 minutes later than the current time.

  4. Choose whether to delete all the EIPs attached to the GEC instance when the instance is deleted. Click OK.

If you select this option, the instance and the EIPs attached to it will be deleted together when the deletion time arrives. However, EIPs that use the Subscription billing mode are only detached and will not be deleted.
