Add an IAM user to an IAM group

This topic describes how to add an IAM user to an IAM group. After the IAM user is added to the group, it inherits all permissions from the group.

Limits

You can add an IAM user to up to 10 groups.

Method 1: Add an IAM user to a group on the Subusers page

  1. Log in to the IAM console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Identities > Subusers. The Subusers page appears.
  3. Find the target IAM user and choose More > Add to group in the Actions column.
  4. In the Add Group Members panel, select one or more groups.
  5. Click OK.

Method 2: Add an IAM user to a group on the Groups page

  1. Log in to the IAM console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Identities > Groups. The Groups page appears.
  3. Find the target group and click Add user in the Actions column.
  4. In the Add Group Members panel, select one or more IAM users.
  5. Click OK.
