In addition to the automatic scale-out feature, Auto Scaling allows you to manually add KEC instances to a scaling group for quick scale-out.
Add existing KEC instances to a scaling group
You can manually add one or more KEC instances to an existing scaling group. These KEC instances process business load and are managed together with other KEC instances in the scaling group.
Requirements for manually adding KEC instances to a scaling group
A KEC instance must meet the following requirements before it can be manually added to a scaling group:
The KEC instance is a formal I/O Optimized instance.
The KEC instance is in the running state.
The KEC instance and the scaling group are in the same region and the same availability zone.
How a scaling group handles manually added KEC instances
Auto Scaling obtains the total number of KEC instances in the scaling group by calculating the sum of existing KEC instances and manually added KEC instances. For example, if the scaling group has two existing KEC instances and you manually add two KEC instances, the scaling group contains four KEC instances. If the sum of existing KEC instances and manually added KEC instances exceeds the maximum number, the KEC instances fail to be added.
The manually added KEC instances are automatically registered with the SLB instance of the scaling group.
Procedure of manually adding KEC instances to a scaling group in the Auto Scaling console
Find the target scaling group and click Manage in the Operation column. On the page that appears, click the Associated KEC Instance tab and click Add KEC Instance. In the dialog box that appears, select the KEC instances to be added to the scaling group, click , and then click OK.
