Step 3: Create a scaling policy

Last updated:2021-05-21 17:41:31

Auto Scaling automatically adds or removes KEC instances in a scaling group based on your scaling policy.

You can create a scheduled task to execute scaling activities at a specified time. If the business changes are regular, you can also enable the repetition of the scheduled task.

Create a scheduled task

If your load changes are predictable, you can create a scheduled task to automatically add or remove KEC instances at a specified time or periodically. This feature flexibly adjusts KEC instances to meet your business needs, improving device utilization and saving the costs in purchasing and deploying KEC instances.

Procedure

  1. On the Scaling Group page, find the target scaling group and click Manage in the Operation column. The details page of the scaling group appears.

  2. Click the Scheduled Task tab and click Create.

  3. In the Create Scheduled Task dialog box that appears, set the parameters such as Name, Execution Start Time, and Scaling Group Activity. You can also select Repeat to enable the repetition of the scheduled task.

  4. Click OK. The scheduled task appears in the scheduled task list.

Create an alarm-triggered policy

If you want to add or remove KEC instances based on a specified metric, you can create an alarm-triggered policy. When the value of the specified metric reaches the threshold, Auto Scaling automatically adds or removes KEC instances to flexibly meet your business needs, improving device utilization and saving the costs in purchasing and deploying KEC instances.

Procedure

  1. On the Scaling Group page, find the target scaling group and click Manage in the Operation column. The details page of the scaling group appears.

  2. Click the Alarm-Triggered Policy tab and click Create.

  3. In the Create Alarm-Triggered Policy dialog box that appears, configure the monitoring metric, such as the CPU or memory usage, and the scaling activity. Auto Scaling then automatically adds or removes a specified number or percentage of KEC instances in the scaling group based on the specified metric.

  4. Click OK. The alarm-triggered policy appears in the alarm-triggered policy list.
