SLB allows you to create instances that support IPv6. You must bind an IPv6 address to an SLB instance to enable the instance to forward requests from IPv6 clients on the Internet. An IPv6 SLB instance supports receiving and forwarding HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, and UDP requests from clients. An IPv6 SLB instance supports all SLB features such as session persistence and health check.
You can attach IPv4 backend servers to IPv6 SLB instances to receive IPv6 requests without the need to modify your business system. You can also attach IPv6 servers to Layer 4 SLB instances.
On the page that appears, select a data center, VPC, and network type, enter a name for the SLB instance, and then set the SLB Version parameter to IPv6.
Note:
- Currently, IPv6 SLB instances are supported only in the CN North 1 (Beijing) region.
- An IPv6 SLB instance must be of the public network type and you must bind an IPv6 address to it.
- IPv6 packets have longer IP headers than IPv4 packets. Therefore, when you configure a UDP listener for an IPv6 SLB instance, you must make sure that the maximum transmission unit (MTU) supported by the network interface card (NIC) that each backend server uses to communicate with SLB is not greater than 1480 bytes. Otherwise, oversized packets may be discarded. You must modify the MTU setting in the configuration files of some applications accordingly.
- SLB does not support IPv6 access control.
