Instance types and billing modes

Last updated:2021-05-31 16:36:01

Instance types

Kingsoft Cloud Redis (KCS) supports primary/secondary instances and cluster instances.

Primary/Secondary instance specifications

Primary/secondary instances support Redis 2.8 and Redis 4.0.

A primary/secondary instance supports 1 to 64 GB data. This data volume can satisfy different levels of requirements on storage capacity and performance.

A primary/secondary instance consists of a primary node and a secondary node that work in hot standby mode.

Memory capacity (GB) Maximum number of connections allowed
1 10,000
2 20,000
4 30,000
8 to 64 40,000

Cluster instance specifications

Cluster instances support Redis 3.0 and Redis 4.0.

You can use a cluster instance in scenarios where the data volume exceeds 64 GB. A cluster instance supports 70 to 300 GB data, with increments of 10 GB. You can contact Kingsoft Cloud customer service if you require a larger capacity.

Memory capacity (GB) Maximum number of connections allowed
70 to 99 60,000
100 to 149 80,000
150 to 199 100,000
200 to 249 120,000
250 to 299 140,000
300 160,000

Read-only replicas

You can create up to seven read-only replicas for a primary/secondary instance. The final charge is the sum of the charge for the primary/secondary instance and the charge for read-only replicas.

For more information about read-only replicas, see Use read-only replicas.

Billing modes

KCS supports the following billing modes:

  • Subscription: Pay first, use later. You will pay the charge for one or several months or several years in one go.
This billing mode is suitable for scenarios where you can predict your needs. The price is lower compared to usage-based billing modes, but the resources cannot be released at all times.
  • Pay-By-Daily-Config: Use first, pay later. The bill is calculated based on usage, measured in days.
This billing mode is suitable for scenarios such as 24/7 business, traffic surge handling, and scalability testing. Resources can be released at any time. The unit price is moderately higher than the Subscription billing mode.
  • Pay-As-You-Go: This is a flexible billing mode where you do not have to pay anything in advance. The bill is calculated based on usage, measured in seconds, and you are charged each hour on the hour. This billing mode is suitable for scenarios with large and rapid fluctuations, such as e-commence promotions. The unit price is higher than the Pay-By-Daily-Config billing mode.
Item Subscription Pay-By-Daily-Config Pay-As-You-Go
Settlement Prepaid Postpaid Instant settlement based on usage
Configuration upgrade Supported Supported Supported
Instance deletion Not supported Supported Supported

The amount of a Pay-As-You-Go bill is the sum of all charges rounded to the nearest hundredth. You are charged based on this amount.

For more information about the prices, see KCS pricing.
