What is Kingsoft Cloud Redis?

Kingsoft Cloud Redis (KCS) is an out-of-the-box, stable, and reliable service for online caching and key-value storage. KCS supports hot backup and provides database features such as automatic failover, instance monitoring, and online scaling.

KCS is compatible with the Redis protocol. KCS uses internal access, security groups, and virtual private clouds (VPCs) to ensure high data security. KCS supports primary/secondary backup and completes a failover within seconds to ensure high service availability. KCS also supports data persistence and multiple replicas to ensure high data reliability.

The Service Level Agreement (SLA) of KCS stipulates a service availability of 99.95% and a data reliability of 99.999%.

KCS comes in two instance types to satisfy the needs of different scenarios: primary/secondary instance and cluster instance.

  • Primary/secondary instance: suitable for the scenarios where you require high comparability with the Redis protocol. A primary/secondary instance consists of a primary node and a secondary node. You can access the instance by using the floating IP address that is shared by the two nodes. When the primary node encounters a fault, the service is automatically switched to the secondary node to ensure high availability. The failover process is transparent to the applications that connect to the instance.

    In a primary/secondary instance, data is stored in a centralized manner and the data volume is limited by the memory capacity of the physical machines. If the data volume becomes too large, the database performance deteriorates. Primary/secondary instances are easy to manage.

    A primary/secondary instance supports 1 to 64 GB data. This data volume can satisfy the performance and capacity requirements of the majority of users.

  • Cluster instance: suitable for scenarios where the data volume grows rapidly and exceeds 64 GB. A cluster instance stores data in different shards. A cluster instance is highly scalable and can ensure database performance even if the data volume is very large.

    A cluster instance provides a proxy that hides the cluster node topology from users. A cluster instance supports 70 to 300 GB data, with increments of 10 GB. You can contact Kingsoft Cloud customer service if you require a larger capacity.
