X-Pack configuration

Last updated:2022-01-11 13:43:09

Kingsoft Cloud Elasticsearch Service (KES) integrates and provides the following X-Pack security features:

  • Encrypted communication
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)
  • File-based and native identity authentication
  • Kibana spaces
  • Feature control of Kibana
  • API key management

You can enable X-Pack only for KES clusters that use Elasticsearch 6.8 or later. X-Pack improves the data access security of KES clusters. For more information, see Protect your data in Elastic Stack. The username and password authentication is required to access KES clusters, no matter whether you access the KES clusters by using Kibana, the client, or the API.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KES console.

  2. Find the KES cluster to configure. Then, choose Management > X-Pack Configuration in the Operation column of the cluster. Alternatively, click the cluster name. On the page that appears, click X-Pack Configuration.

  3. On the page that appears, turn on X-Pack.

Limit: You can enable or disable X-Pack only for clusters that are in the Running state. After you enable or disable X-Pack for a KES cluster, the system automatically restarts the cluster to make the change take effect.

Note:

  1. You are allowed to enable or disable X-Pack.
  2. You can enable X-Pack only for clusters that are in the Running state.
  3. After you enable X-Pack for a KES cluster, the system automatically restarts the cluster to make the change take effect. The cluster is unavailable during the restart. Exercise caution when you perform this operation.
