Manage dedicated KEC instances

Last updated:2021-03-16 19:45:13

A dedicated KEC instance is a KEC instance created on a dedicated host. A dedicated KEC instance can be customized and configured within the available resources of a dedicated host based on your needs. Functions of a dedicated KEC instance are the same as those of a common KEC instance. All operations on a common KEC instance are applicable to a dedicated KEC instance.

Create a dedicated KEC instance

A dedicated KEC instance can only be created on a dedicated host, and each dedicated host supports up to 70 dedicated KEC instances.

Access to the Create Dedicated KEC Instance page

  • Access from the page of the dedicated host list

    1. Log in to the KDH console.

    2. Find the target dedicated host and then click Create Dedicated KEC Instance in the Operation column corresponding to the dedicated host.
  • Access from the page of the KEC instance list

    1. Log in to the KEC console.

    2. Click Create Instance to go to the instance creation page.
    3. On the page that appears, click the Create Dedicated KEC Instance tab.

Configuration considerations

  • You can specify the cluster and host to which the new dedicated KEC instance belongs.

  • The new dedicated KEC instance does not support disaster tolerance groups.

  • The purchase duration of the dedicated KEC instance is the same as that of the dedicated host where the instance resides.

  • The dedicated KEC instance is automatically assigned the project of the dedicated host where the instance resides.

  • The new dedicated KEC instance can have custom configurations, such as allocation of CPU, memory, and data disk size. The customization rules are:
    • The number of vCPUs for the KEC instance cannot exceed the actual or available number of vCPUs for the dedicated host.
    • The memory cannot exceed the available memory of the dedicated host.
    • The data disk size cannot exceed the available disk size of the dedicated host.
    • The size of the system disk does not occupy the size of the disk you purchased (local disk type), and shares the system disk resource pool on the dedicated host. You cannot write data to the system disk. This can avoid a full system disk and prevent the application from being unavailable.

Adjust the configuration of a dedicated KEC instance

Unlike a common KEC instance, a dedicated KEC instance supports both the upgrade and downgrade of CPU, memory, and data disks. The procedure to adjust the configuration is as follows:

  1. Log in to the KDH console.
  2. On the Dedicated Host page, find the dedicated host where the dedicated KEC instance is located, and then click Instance Management in the Operation column.
  3. In the instance list, find the dedicated KEC instance whose configuration you want to adjust, and then choose More > Resource Adjustment > Change Configuration in the Operation column. Note: If you want to downgrade the configuration of the dedicated KEC instance, you must ensure that the dedicated KEC instance is in Stopped state. The specific operation is to select the instance and click Stop.
  4. Configure parameters and then click OK.

Other operations on a dedicated KEC instance

Other operations on a dedicated KEC instance are exactly the same as those on a common KEC instance. For more information, see Console operations.
