Access a file system across availability zones or VPCs

Last updated:2021-11-15 20:36:43

Access a file system across availability zones in a VPC

KFS allows multiple Kingsoft Cloud Elastic Compute (KEC) instances that reside in the same virtual private cloud (VPC) but different availability zones to access a KFS file system in this VPC. This implements resource sharing across availability zones.

  1. Log in to the KEC console and select a region. For example, select the CN North 1(Beijing) region.
  2. Create two KEC instances that reside in the same VPC but different availability zones. For example, create one KEC instance in availability zone A and the other KEC instance in availability zone B.
  3. Log in to the KFS console and create a file system. Select the same VPC and an endpoint subnet for the file system.
  4. Mount the file system to both KEC instances. 3.png

Access a file system across VPCs

KFS supports resource access in the following scenarios.

  • Multiple KEC instances that reside in different VPCs need to share a file system.
  • Your KEC instance and file system reside in different VPCs.
  • Your KEC instance and file system reside in different regions. To achieve the optimal performance of a file system, we recommend that you deploy your KEC instance and file system in the same region.

Solution

You can use Peering to implement resource access in the preceding scenarios. Example: KEC instance A resides in VPC-A, and file system B resides in VPC-B. You can use Peering to implement access between VPC-A and VPC-B. Then, KEC instance A can access file system B.
