KEC instances can be migrated. You can migrate a public KEC instance to a dedicated host, migrate a dedicated KEC instance between dedicated hosts of the same type, or migrate a dedicated KEC instance to a public KEC instance.

Migrate a public KEC instance to a dedicated host

You can migrate a public KEC instance to a dedicated host to meet security compliance requirements for physical isolation.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KEC console.
  2. Find the KEC instance to be migrated and make sure that it is in the Stopped state.
  3. Choose More > Migrate in the Operation column of the KEC instance.
  4. Select the cluster and dedicated host to which you want to migrate the KEC instance. Then, click OK.

The following table describes the mapping between the types of public KEC instances and the types of destination dedicated hosts to which the public KEC instances can be migrated.

Migrate a dedicated KEC instance

You can migrate a dedicated KEC instance between dedicated hosts of the same type or to a public KEC instance. Note that you can migrate only one dedicated KEC instance between dedicated hosts of the same type at a time. You must wait for the migration completion of a dedicated KEC instance before you can migrate another one.

The migration process may take a long time. You cannot stop the dedicated KEC instance or reinstall its system during migration. Therefore, proper migration planning is required.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KDH console.
  2. Find the dedicated host where the dedicated KEC instance to be migrated resides, and click Instance Management in the Operation column to enter the instance list.
  3. Find the dedicated KEC instance to be migrated.
  4. Choose More > Migrate in the Operation column of the dedicated KEC instance.
  5. Specify whether to migrate the dedicated KEC instance to a dedicated host or a public KEC instance. To migrate the dedicated KEC instance to a public KEC instance, make sure that the dedicated KEC instance is in the Stopped state.
  6. To migrate the dedicated KEC instance to a dedicated host, select the destination cluster and dedicated host. To migrate the dedicated KEC instance to a public KEC instance, select the proper instance type and specifications. Then, click OK.

The dedicated KEC instance first enters the Migrating state. The time taken for migration depends on your host and the network environment during migration. After the migration is complete, the dedicated KEC instance enters the Running state again.

The following table describes the mapping between the types of dedicated hosts where dedicated KEC instances reside and the types of destination public KEC instances to which the dedicated KEC instances can be migrated.
