Create a launch configuration

Last updated:2021-05-21 17:41:31

Auto Scaling creates KEC instances during scale-out based on the launch configuration that you specified. In a launch configuration, you must specify the KEC instance configurations such as image and storage.

Note that a launch configuration is a template based on which KEC instances are created during scale-out. No KEC instance is created when you create a launch configuration. Therefore, you can create a launch configuration for free.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Auto Scaling console.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Launch Configuration.

  3. Select a region from the top navigation bar.

Select a region for the launch configuration based on your business needs.

Note: You must select the region in which you want to create KEC instances for a scaling group. This region applies to both the launch configuration and the scaling group that uses the launch configuration. For example, if you select the CN North 1(Beijing) region for the launch configuration, KEC instances in this region are automatically added to the scaling group during scale-out. You can only attach an SLB instance in the CN North 1(Beijing) region to the scaling group.

  4. Click Create.
  5. Configure the launch configuration as prompted. Note the following information:

    • Instance type: For example, you can set Type, CPU, and Memory to Standard S3, 1 Cores, and 1 G, respectively.

    • Image type: You can select a standard image, a custom image, a shared image, or an image from the marketplace.

    • Basic information: Configure basic information of the launch configuration such as the name and administrator password.
  6. Confirm the configuration and then click Buy Now.
